Short description of advertisement:
Austrian company is looking start-ups with solution to measure parameters of refractory metals in high temperature furnaces
An Austrian manufacturer of refractory metals seeks a technical solution to measure in extreme conditions different parameters such as gas, temperature, surface conditions of molybdenum and tungsten in industrial furnaces. Solutions could range from a highly sophisticated sensor technology to image analysis. In the framework of an innovation challenge selected start-ups will co-develop and implement the technology under a technical agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance.
As part of a regional innovation program in Tyrol, an Austrian company seeks start-ups from Europe and beyond. The company is a manufacturer of refractory metals such as molybdenum, tungsten, tantalum, niobium and chromium components for high temperature applications. The alloys and composite materials are used in electronics, coating technology or high-temperature furnaces.
The company's challenge is to detect and measure different parameters in batch-type high temperature furnaces or process chambers. For example, measurements of the temperature, deformation and surface condition of components in the hot zone or gas phase compositions of the atmosphere in the furnace are of interest. This is relevant both in the short-term regime (single process cycle) as well as the long-term regime (furnace lifetime). The company is also looking for solutions to observe and quantify thermal gradients at high temperatures or signatures involving melting processes. Currently, standard sensors and measurement techniques provide insufficient results in order to monitor process stability or improve component lifetime.
Potential partners should offer a measurement solution of hard-to-reach components in extreme environmental conditions in high temperature (up to 2000°C) furnaces and chemical reactors and transmit this information to a receiver (control unit).
The company is open to any type of solution (proof of concept, prototype or already on the market) from start-ups to co-develop and/or implement the technology. Solutions could range from highly sophisticated sensor technologies to image analysis. Envisaged cooperation types are technical agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This technology request is part of a regional program to connect start-ups and industry and is open for EOIs until 20th May 2020. Start-ups expressing their interest and offering a suitable and innovative solution will be guided towards a separate application platform. Selected start-ups will be further invited to a matching event from 16th to 17th June 2020 (financial travel support provided) where they can pitch their solution and have bilateral meetings with Austrian companies.
